What is Younger Onset Dementia?
Younger Onset Dementia is diagnosed in people under the age of 65 years. Dementia describes a group of symptoms affecting thinking, memory, behaviour, language, and cognitive skills in daily life, and social abilities.
Younger onset Dementia symptoms are diagnosed under the age of 65 years – you may be in their fifties, forties, thirties, or younger.
If you have been diagnosed with Younger Onset Dementia you may be eligible for support from the Australian government through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
Supported Independent Living
Supported Independent Living (SIL) at St Louis Homes, assists people living with Younger Onset Dementia to continue to live their lives as independently as possible, ensuring they are engaged in daily tasks and making their own choices about day-to-day life.
We work in partnership with you to ensure we meet your interests, requirements, and support needs.
Our step-by-step approach empowers and supports people living with Younger Onset Dementia to learn and use skills for everyday tasks. This can include personal support and household tasks such as cooking, cleaning, or gardening.
You are encouraged to be involved in home and community activities. Health, well-being, and inclusion are a focus. All meals are fresh, delicious and home-cooked.
Short Term Accommodation
St Louis Homes offers Short Term Accommodation (STA) respite for people living with Younger Onset Dementia. Funding for support for a short time away from your usual home for up to 14 days. Respite is a break, and we understand caring for people living with younger-onset dementia can be emotionally and physically exhausting.
Respite relieves stress for the carer and provides a positive experience for the person living with Younger Onset Dementia.
Our Short Term Accommodation respite, is 24hr individualised support tailored to the needs of people living with Younger Onset Dementia. We actively encourage purposeful involvement in activities around the home and local community. We also offer hospital-to-home respite.
Staff support for Younger Onset Dementia
Our staff are our greatest asset. They are dedicated, qualified, trained, and experienced in Younger Onset Dementia support. All staff are employed by St Louis Homes and NDIS screened.
We have a strong leadership team and we work with our clients, their families and support groups to ensure we meet their individual support needs.

On the second Thursday of each month, we have tours of St Louis Homes. Contact us to register for updates and locations.
Day Respite
Day respite programs are available at St Louis Homes for people living with Younger Onset Dementia.
Respite is available during the day and provides short-term breaks for the caregiver or family to take care of themselves, go to appointments, or have the day to recharge. Day respite provides the person living with Younger Onset Dementia the opportunity to spend time in a safe and supportive environment. They have the opportunity to experience new activities to support their needs and build on their skills. It is an opportunity to create support partnerships with our staff, meet some new people who may have similar experiences, and create a support group.
We have the flexibility to cater to your individual needs and choices. Staying at St Louis Homes allows the opportunity to become familiar and comfortable with our homes and adjust for longer support stays.
